Becoming a rider . . .

Absolutely! New riders are welcome - this is not a race! Though some physical training is certainly needed and recommended before the ride, we are not professional cyclists by any means and welcome bikers of all skill levels. Each rider will bike at his/her own pace.

Is there an age requirement? . . .

Riders ages 16 & up are eligible to participate! However, we do ask that riders under the age of 18 be accompanied by a chaperon.

Do I need a specific type of bicycle? . . .

We highly recommend that riders use road bicycles, as we do ride quite a few miles every day. However, the choice of bike is up to the rider!

How much do I need to raise to become a rider? . . .

Each rider must raise a minimum of $3,000 if they are riding the entire way. Segment riders are asked to raise a $500 per segment they ride. It's always great to set your fundraising goal higher. The sky's the limit!

How do I raise the money? . . .

This aspect may seem intimidating, but you would truly be surprised at what people are willing to give. A ride like this is not something that the average person has accomplished, and therefore people are excited about this. From our past experiences, asking family and friends, making Facebook posts, and throwing BBQs and parties are some examples of fundraising ideas. Using the media is also a big help, such as writing to a local paper or radio station about what you are doing.
